| The Lindenhurst Fire Department had a busy end to 2025. On Decemebr 20th the department was activated for an automatic fire alarm at Hurricane Wings on Montauk Highway. First Assistant Chief Cutolo arrived first and reported there was active fire on the roof in the rear of the building. One was put into operation by Engine 1-6-2 to quickly extinguish the fire. The crew from Ladder 1-6-4 opened up the area to check for extension which was negative. The was under control within 20 minutes. Chief of Department Santos was in command of the scene.
At approximately 07:00 on December 23rd the department was alerted along with the West Babylon Fire Department for a dual response Engine for a house fire on Phyllis Drive. First Assistant Chief Cutolo was the first Lindenhurst unit to respond and was told numerous calls were being taken. West Babylon Third Assistant Chief Fischer was the first to arrive and informed Chief Cutolo it was a working fire. Engine 1-6-2 was first due and that crew stretched the initial line to the fire which had a detached garage fully involved that extended to three vehicles and both floors of a two story home. The crew from Engine 1-6-3 stretched a second line, crews from North Lindenhurst Engine 1-11-1 stretched and operated the third line off 1-6-2 to knock down fire in the house. The crew from West Babylon stretched a fourth line from Engine 1-6-3 and stood by if needed. The crews from Ladder 1-6-4 a d West Babylon Ladder 1-9-4 laddered, searched and vented the home with all searches being negative. The fire was brought under control within an hour with no reported injuries. Additional mutual aid to the scene was provided by the Copiague, Babylon, and Amityville Fire Departments. Chief of Department Santos who arrived during the operation was in command of the scene. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
On Decemebr 30th the department was activated for a house fire on the 800 block of South 5th Street at about 02:30. All Chiefs responded quickly and arrived to find fire showing from the rear of a one story home. Engine 1-6-6 was first due and had a hydrant a house away. Crews stretched and operated two lines and had the fire extinguished and under control within 20 minutes. All searches of the home were negative and there were no reported injuries. Chief of Department Santos was in command of the scene and the cause of the fire was under investigation. |
